WAIB Summit Monaco 2026 takes place on June 9-10 at One Monte-Carlo in Casino Square, expecting over 2,000 attendees for its second edition. The 2025 debut featured 150 speakers from Microsoft, Coinbase, OKX, B2C2 and AS Monaco. The 2026 programme expands with curated side events bringing together BNP Paribas, Natixis, CoinShares, Franklin Templeton, Kraken and KuCoin EU alongside public sector participants from the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Governments of Liechtenstein and Monaco. Alibaba Cloud is the main sponsor and powers the on-site AI Film Fest 24H Hackathon. Finonity is an official media partner.
Where Institutional Capital Meets Digital Assets
WAIB Summit Monaco is positioned as one of the most exclusive gatherings in the digital assets and AI space globally. The attendee profile is weighted toward family offices, institutional asset managers, exchanges, financial institutions and regulators. That concentration of capital and policy authority in a single room for two days is what distinguishes the event from larger but more diffuse industry expos.
The 2026 programme expands the institutional footprint significantly. BNP Paribas, Natixis, CoinShares and Franklin Templeton are among the confirmed financial institutions participating in curated side events. On the exchange side, Coinbase, OKX, Kraken and KuCoin EU are represented. Peter Kerstens, Adviser at the European Commission’s DG FISMA, and Ondrej Kovarik, former Member of the European Parliament, bring the regulatory perspective. Dr. Clara Guerra, Director at the Government of Liechtenstein, rounds out the public sector representation alongside officials from the Government of Monaco.
A private family office dinner at the Yacht Club de Monaco, limited to around 80 invited guests, anchors the programme’s deal-making track. VC and startup pitching sessions run with partners including Draper University, CV VC Labs, funders.vc, Gini Capital and MonacoTech. That concentration of capital and policy authority in a 2,000-person setting is designed to produce conversations that would not happen at a 20,000-person expo floor.
Alibaba Cloud and the AI Film Fest
A centrepiece of the 2026 programme is the AI Film Fest 24H Hackathon, exclusively powered by Alibaba Cloud. The format is a 24-hour AI filmmaking challenge open to all on-site attendees. The Alibaba Cloud team delivers a tool demonstration and creative briefing at the start, after which participants have 24 hours to produce a one-to-three minute AI-generated short film.
Submissions are reviewed by an official jury that includes Anthony Bourached, Associate Professor of Machine Learning and Creative AI at University College London, alongside jury members from cinema, creative technology and machine learning. Gold, Silver and Bronze winners are announced during the event. The hackathon sits at a crossroads that is increasingly visible across the tech calendar: the convergence of generative AI tooling with creative production, backed by enterprise cloud infrastructure.
Monaco as a Digital Assets Hub
The choice of Monaco is not incidental. The principality has been actively positioning itself as a jurisdiction for digital asset companies and family offices managing crypto allocations. The summit builds on the global attention surrounding the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix, leveraging the city’s peak international visibility to draw an audience that might not attend a typical blockchain conference elsewhere.
The programme extends beyond the main stage. Side events include curated roundtables, investor matchmaking sessions, startup showcases, and a closing beach celebration on the Riviera coastline. Over 50 global KOLs with a combined audience exceeding six million followers are confirmed, adding a media amplification layer to the institutional and regulatory core of the programme.
